Meet the Teacher
On Thursday, September 26, we will be hosting our Meet the Teacher event from 6:30pm-8:00pm. Please use this Meet the Teacher Night Planning Sheet to work with your student to complete your student’s timetable to help plan your evening to ensure you can see all of your student’s teachers.
High School 101 - 6:00 to 6:30 pm in the main gym. This is a presentation by Student Services on the logistics if high school graduation requirements including course selections, credit requirements and career pathways. This presentation is geared towards families new to high school.
Scholarship Opportunities - 6:30 to 7:00 pm in the main gym. This presentation is geared towards Grade 11 and 12 families primarily, however Grade 10 families are welcome to attend.
Music Parent Meeting– 7:30 pm in the cafeteria.

Diefenbaker Athletics Bottle Drive
Saturday, September 21 from 9am to 12pm.
Please support our Diefenbaker Athletics programs by bringing your refundable cans and bottles to the student parking lot near the bus cage on Saturday morning. Athletes will be collecting bottles from the community. Proceeds directly impact our programs with equipment, uniforms, tournament fees and program costs.

Post Secondary Information, Scholarships, MyPass and Apply Alberta
University of Calgary and University of Alberta will open applications on October 1. Information can be found on the Diefenbunker which is accessible through D2L.
Our Diefenbunker D2L site will be a student’s primary source of information and updates pertaining to post secondary applications, open houses, scholarships, MyPass and Apply Alberta accounts. Grade 12 students are especially encouraged to review Diefenbunker Announcements on a regular basis for updates. Information is also posted on all the TVs around the building.
2024-25 School Fees
Semester 1 school fees are now posted and ready for viewing and payment in your MyCBE/Powerschool account or in person at the Business Office.
Textbooks from the last school year that have not been returned have been marked LOST and posted on your fees account for prompt payment. Upon return, this fee will be reversed.

Yearbooks from F. E. Osborne
Former F. E. Osborne students, if you ordered a yearbook last year, please come to F. E. Osborne on Friday, September 20 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm for pickup and yearbook signing. There will also be a limited number of extra copies available for $30. If you have a sibling at F. E. Osborne, they can also pick it up for you.

The Spotlight is a place where we look forward to working with and showcasing all of our talented artists of Diefenbaker.
Above are some Artist Trading Cards created by our current Visual Art students. We will host our first Lunchbox Showcase (LITA) of the year Thursday, September 26th. Please come support our artists in the cafeteria! Watch out for more shows to come monthly.
Our Leadership in the Arts (LITA) class will be continuing every Thursday at lunch in the Art Room. If you are interested, please come to find out more.
Yearbook Design Contest
IB Biology Nosehill Field Trip
On Tuesday, our IB Biology students hiked from the school up to the Glacial Erratic at Nosehill Park. While there, they had opportunity to appreciate the historical significance of the site and see where buffalo used to come to rub off their winter coats on the “big rock”. Students also completed a quadrat study, which is a test used in ecology to study species in a given area.

If you have not verified your demographic information for the 2024-25 school year, please log in to your SchoolEngage account and verify your student’s information. Technical support/instructions are available here. Annual authorizations requiring parent consent are also required for the 2024-25 school year. These are:

- Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party): provides information pertaining to including students in media events where images may be recorded and used by the third party.

Volunteering with the CBE
Prospective volunteers must first register as a volunteer at with school where you plan on volunteering. This should be done through MyCBE by clicking on the Online Forms and School Registration tab and completing the Volunteer Registration 2024-25 form. You can also submit an Annual Volunteer Registration Form through the school office.
School administrators will verify your identity and register you in the CBE volunteer database. The school office will email you with a letter enabling you to obtain a police information check from the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Please note, prospective volunteers must reside in Canada for a full year before registering. Police clearances from countries other than Canada are not accepted.
