Our Library Learning Commons

Is the hub for our school learning community. It is available to all students and is for research, reading, quiet and study. 

Allowing some level of noise and talking in a group work space area facilitates collaboration as well as a degree of socializing that contributes to the appeal of the library learning commons. Students will need to observe the following expectations while using the space.

• No Food or Beverages other than water in an enclosed water bottle are permitted in the library.
• Students are expected to work quietly and respectfully.
• Students who are being too loud and disruptive to other learners while in the library will be asked to leave.

In addition to the numerous resources available, the library also provides the following services:

• Computer printing, photocopying and scanning are available in the library.
• Tech help for common computer issues including log-in problems, wireless access on personal devices and printing issues.
• The Library Assistant can reset your password.
• ELA Textbook and novel sign out.

Library Hours

• Hours of Operation are posted on the Library Doors.

Note: the library may be closed during regular hours for special presentations and exams.

To Sign out Resources

• Student requires a student ID card to sign out resources.
• All library books have a 3 week loan period.
• Short-term loans of calculators and laptops are for the duration of the class period.
• If books or equipment are lost/damaged, payment is expected to cover the replacement cost.
• All textbooks and novels are barcoded with a unique number. Students are asked to return the exact same copy. Returning somebody's copy will not clear the account.

Computers

• Free for use if not booked by a teacher.
• Check the TV booking screen for space availability.
• Gaming is strictly prohibited.

ID Cards

• Lost your ID? Never got one? We can take your photo and print a card for you.
• The first one is free of charge, additional ID cards will be at $5.00 fee.

Online Resources

• Students have access to a variety of materials for research and general interest in digital, printing formats. The collection includes a wide range of electronic resources with access to full text articles, books, journals, eBooks and videos.
• All online resources can be accessed from any computer in the school, as well as from home.
• Ask library staff for username and password information.

The Atlas of Canada– Use this resource to access maps that assist in the investigation and study of Canada and its people through historical, economic, environmental and cultural information.

Calgary Public Library - Gain access to tons of online resources including videos, ebooks, audiobooks, World Book Online, Novel Lists, BookFlix, National Geographic, Flipster Online magazine, Language Learning Resources, and more.

Criterion on Demand - A collection of popular movies for viewing.

Curio – A collection of videos available for staff and students. All resources are categorized, filterable and searchable by subject, topic and grade level.

GALE - Student Resources - Full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites

JSTOR Academic Resource - A collection of academic journals and articles covering a multitude of subjects. To access from home, you must create an account.

Learn Alberta – an extensive collection of videos and resources on all school subjects. Login information at the top right side of the page.

Teen Book Cloud – A curated database of e-books and other digital content which features over 1000 titles, including graphic novels, enhanced e-books with full audio narration and highlighted text, classic literature, National Geographic videos and more.
