Artist Showcase
Our Leadership in the Arts (LITA) group met again on Thursday and our first Lunchbox Showcase will take place on September 26 at lunch in the cafe area. Please come check it out and support Diefenbaker’s talented community of artists. If you are interested in joining the LITA team, please come to our next meeting on Thursday, September 19th at lunch in the Art Room (12). The Visual Arts students recently had the opportunity to go on a walking gallery tour of the Masters Gallery, High Park, Newzones and Trepanier Baer. It was a great day where the students observed and learned about the work of many notable artists. It started with Jean-Paul Jerome, Joe Fafard, Michael Corner, The Group of Seven and Maggie Hall on 4th Street. They continued on to see Samantha Walrod and Evelyn Brader-Frank on 11th Avenue. Then they completed their tour on 8th Street by viewing the art of Michael Smith. The students were great ambassadors of Diefenbaker and a productive time was had by all. The trip is a tradition that we look forward to offering again and again. We send out our gratitude to the Masters Gallery who supports this trip.
Updates from IB - Grade 10 Honours Orientation
On September 20th, all Grade 10 students will participate in a student orientation. This fun event is organized and run entirely by Grade 12 IB students. It will provide information, inspiration and study tips from our experienced IB learners. Pizza lunch will be provided.
IB Learner Profile Contest
Each month we will be featuring one of the attributes of a great learner. IB students who demonstrate these qualities can enter to win a slice of pizza from our school cafeteria. Entries can be submitted by peers, teachers or parents to our IB Coordinator.
This month’s featured Learner Profile is “Risk-Taker”. Risk takers approach new situations with forethought and determination. They are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.
