Student Conduct & Expectations
At Diefenbaker we have high standards for student conduct and as such we have put structures in place to support our students. Below are a few important expectations for all students:
- Cell phones and earbuds/headphones are to away during class time unless direct permission given by a teacher. Accommodations for learning needs will be addressed on an individual basis by teachers.
- Students cannot loiter in McDonalds or in the McDonald’s / 7-11 parking lot. Police will be issuing tickets.
- Any student caught vaping on school property will receive a $300 ticket and possible suspension. Warning Tickets will not be issued
- Students are expected to be in classes and not wandering the halls. Students on a spare are expected to be in the cafeteria, Learning Commons or out of the building.
If you have any questions regarding our expectations at JGD please do not hesitate to contact the Principal, Mr. Arrell.

Leadership in the Arts
Leadership in the Arts (LITA) has started and takes place on Thursdays at lunchtime in the Art Room 12 (West). Come one, come all!!!
These LITA students work to promote the Arts within the greater Dief community. One such endeavour takes place monthly in the cafeteria as a Lunchbox Showcase of our talented students.
Grade 12s working towards 30 credits in the Arts may receive an additional 5 credits and a Certificate of Distinction along with their diploma from the CBE.
Students in Grades 11 & 12 can join LITA as a club and receive volunteer or CAS hours.
Looking forward to another great year together!
Calgary Transit
As per the School Messenger notice earlier this week, we are working continuously with Calgary Transit to support all our students at John G Diefenbaker. Unfortunately, Calgary Transit is not able to provide a bus into the Panorama, Harvest Hill and Coventry Hill areas this year. We have two 734 buses; two 735 buses and one 736 bus, (735 is the correct number). If you have concerns, please contact Assistant Principal Ms. Turner at 403-274-2240 ext. 2414 or email at cjturner@cbe.ab.ca .
Student Workbooks
Could students who have transferred out of a Science or Math class, please return the workbooks to their former teachers or to the Business Office. Without returning the workbooks, the student will be charged for that cost. Regardless of next semester’s schedule, students must return their workbooks due to our current shortage.
Bike Rack
Currently the bike rack is being repaired and repainted. Please ensure that your student has a strong and secure bike lock.
