Artist Spotlight

Selina V is a Grade 12 student that is passionate about the performing arts. She is an actress that has taken part in the previous two school plays; most notably are her roles Grempkin, Mack, Sanchez, and Fighting Prawn in Peter and the Starcatcher last year.

Selina’s personal voice shines through in all of the characters she portrays. She does this by putting her own unique spin on a character’s behaviour and habits, basing them off of her own. Before coming to Diefenbaker, her theater experience only consisted of musical performances from middle school. Despite her lack of experience, she exhibits a passion for being on stage with her fellow actors, which is demonstrated by her striking stage presence during her performances. Along with being an actress, Selina has been a prominent member of Diefenbaker’s Jazz and Concert Choir. She has taken a vocal leadership role in the soprano section. She can often be heard singing the higher parts in the choral repertoire, as well as doing the occasional solo every now and then. Selina has received multiple awards for her devotion to the performing arts, being named the Most Outstanding Choir Student in grades 10 and 11, as well as receiving the Fine Arts Award for Drama 10.

All of Selina’s performances, whether in theatre or choir, are fueled by the unbridled joy she feels on stage and her passion to share that same feeling with her audience.

Keep it up, Selina!

Child and Youth Well-Being:
A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians

CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.

Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success. The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics. Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.
