Cafeteria closed for IB Exams – Wednesday, May 8 to Friday, May 10. Please relocate to Learning Commons.
Important Parking Information
A reminder that only students who have paid for and currently display a JGD parking pass may park in the Student Parking Lot. Beginning this week, reminder slips will be placed on vehicles not displaying their parking pass. The license plate will be recorded. If a car is recorded twice, the owner may receive a parking ticket or the car may be towed.
Parents, please note that parking in the Staff Parking Lot is for Teachers only. Parents parking in Teachers’ parking spots prevents Teachers from parking safely and arriving to school safely and on time. There is a drop off location for parents to stop and let students out.
After school, please arrange to meet your student off school property such as the Superstore parking lot rather than parking in Teachers’ parking stalls.
Bike Security
Sadly, we have had a number of bike thefts from our front bike rack. Most of them were due to having a poor quality, easily picked or easily broken lock or due to the lock not being securely fastened to the frame of the bike.
Please ensure you use a quality lock (some even come with insurance) to lock the frame, the wheel(s), and if necessary your helmet together to the bike rack. While we provide the rack, the school nor the CBE is responsible for stolen bikes.
Grad Weekly Update
The excitement of planning for the Formal Reception continues! Last week all Grade 12's were offered the opportunity to be a part of selecting menu items by completing a survey. The results are in: by an overwhelming majority of responses, the Chef serving at the Noodle Station wins the day! Shanghai noodles, sticky rice, Thai shrimp, lemongrass chicken, teriyaki tofu, varied vegetable toppings, spring rolls and dumplings, as well as gluten free options, this choice of Shanghai Noodles is a delicious one!
A reminder that the Google Form to order your reception tickets is available until May 10.
Only students can sign into the link and request tickets. Parents, please have your student request tickets on behalf of your family. Reception Ticket Order Form

Artist Spotlight
Jennifer W is a Grade 12 art student. She prefers to use acrylic paint for her work and also enjoys graphite and occasionally experimenting with 3D aspects in her pieces. Jennifer pulls inspiration from her peers, the world around her, and pop culture. She implements these elements into her pieces through real world objects, as well as images and characters. Her art takes on a particularly saturated style that is derived from her ideas and imagination rather than a specific period or genre. Jennifer has pursued art throughout her past, for both enjoyment and as a hobby. She continues to bring forward her skills in her classes, as well as in her free time. Jennifer's art is certainly beautiful and we look forward to seeing more of her work in the future. – Written by Leigh B.
Math IB Weekend Exam Prep
Our IB Math students attended Mr. Chong’s IB Math Diploma Review on both April 21 and 27. These were not mandatory, yet many students made the choice to give up their Saturday to attend. It was very well attended with 38 out of 44 in attendance on April 21, and 36 out of 44 in attendance on April 27. Outstanding!
The admission fee was a donation to the Food Bank and we collected 2 full Food Bank boxes! The best and most delicious part was the potluck with a diversity of cultural foods. This may not be as exciting as attending a city championship of any sort but certainly worth noting that our IB students are motivated, hard working students who are willing to go above and beyond. It was a memorable experience that solidified the cohesiveness of the IB cohort and fully prepared them for their external IB Math SL exams. Best of luck!
