Graduation 2024
The culmination of twelve years of education is a special time of life for students, parents and staff. Taking time to formally mark this significant rite of passage, and celebrate this together is an important moment! As a school community we have two events planned to mark the occasion: the formal ceremony in the morning and the formal reception and dance in the afternoon on Friday, June 7, 2024.
Parent Information Meeting
On Tuesday April 16, 2024, there will be a Grad and Parent Meeting at 7:00 p.m. to share details and answer questions.
Participation
To be eligible to take part in the graduation ceremonies and formal reception/dance, Grade 12 students must be registered in a program of courses that will enable them to meet the requirements for their diploma or certificate. The official updated graduation list will be posted in April. See your Counsellor in Student Services if you have questions. Graduation fees must be paid to participate. Contact our Business Office or pay through MyCBE.
Formal Ceremony
Date: Friday June 7 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: Centre Street Church at 3902 2 St NE
Students will receive their keepsake gowns and regalia in advance of this event
Rehearsal date: Thursday, June 6 Block 3 and 4 in the JGD Main Gym
Formal Reception & Dance
Date: Friday June 7 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Location: WinSport at 88 Canada Olympic Rd. SW
Custom appetizers, non-alcoholic drinks, DJ lights and a dance floor, photo booth and an area for socializing and connecting will all be features of this celebration. Thank you to the Student Grad Committee for their work. Tickets will be required.
Students on the Graduation Committee are hard at work planning speeches, selecting and creating beautiful decor!
Tickets for both formal events will be available in May.
Attention Grade 12 Students
The Education Matters website www.educationmatters.ca is live! Check out the website and sign up for an information session. There are approximately 40 different awards and scholarships that Grade 12s may be eligible to apply for! See Mrs. MacDonald for questions or more information.
Student Progress Conferences
Student Progress Conferences are coming up on March 21st from 4pm – 8:30pm online only. The conference booking tool will close on March 20th @ 8am. Each meeting block will be 10 minutes in length. Artist Spotlight
Hayley Y is a student in Grade 12 at Diefenbaker. She is an incredibly talented individual across several disciplines within the Fine Arts. Hayley has participated in numerous theatre productions, is passionate about painting, as well as arts and crafts. She often incorporates her artistic abilities with creative class projects and is heavily involved in the musical side of the Arts. Hayley has been involved in Band for six years and is currently a French Horn player in the Diefenbaker Symphonic Band, and a Trumpet Player in Jazz 1 Band. She also has experience in Choir as a Soprano; and when she was in Grade 8, she directed a musical production as well. Hayley is a highly active member of the Fine Arts Community at Diefenbaker and continues to flourish and develop her various talents. She is an artistic and inspiring individual who continues to spread her love of the arts through music, visual arts, and crafts!

Youth Dodgeball Night
The Trellis Renfrew Club is hosting a Dodgeball Night! It runs from 6-8 pm on Fridays at the Renfrew Hub (731 13ave NE) for ages 12-24. The Hub is for creating a space for youth to hang out and have fun with their friends. There is the option of basketball as the gym has hoops. Snacks will be provided and music!
Indigenous Science Night at TELUS Spark Science Centre (March 22 at 5:00-10:00pm)

The theme is FREQUENCIES, in celebration of the stories and science of the upcoming First Thunder of Spring.
- Elders & Knowledge Keepers will speak about the first thunder, quantum, and water frequencies
- Alberta Native Bee Council will present about bee communication and frequencies, with Lee Crowchild
- Musical Frequencies performed by Plant DJs
