Artist Spotlight
Lauren T is a Grade 12 student who is fully immersed in Fine Arts. She is a talented musician, and construction student here at John G Diefenbaker High School. Lauren has spent years enhancing her skills on a variety of woodworking tools, while simultaneously picking up other musical fine art techniques.
She has trained for many years on the piano, beginning at the age of 4. In grade 6 she began playing and showcasing her skills on a new instrument, the flute. Lauren then made the transition to a more well- known instrument in the world of Jazz, the alto saxophone. She is most known for playing in both the Diefenbaker Symphonic and Jazz 1 Bands, earning her recognition as Band Student of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. Many solos and featurettes showcase the skills she has acquired in the past 6 years of Band, and 5 years of Jazz. Though it is not as widely seen, Lauren still holds on to the piano. She is working hard to finish RCM level 10 and hopes to teach younger musicians the instrument. As a universally understood medium, Lauren wants to continue her journey with music going forward into university.
