Artist Spotlight:
Ri M has been a member of the Diefenbaker Jazz 1 Band (since Grade 10!) and Symphonic Band, playing the baritone saxophone. He is a proud member of the music program at Diefenbaker, performing at all of our major concerts with solos. Outside of school, he is a member of the Calgary Stampede Showband’s Leadership Team, where he also plays the baritone saxophone. He will be a part of the first Stampede Showband that gets to perform at the BMO Expansion Steps this summer. Make sure to check him out in the Showband at the Stampede and in our school bands!

Diefenbaker Vocal Jazz on tour with Foreigner! (For a song)
The Vocal Jazz Ensemble auditioned last week as part of a contest for XL103 FM to sing “I Wanna Know What Love Is” with Foreigner, on stage at the Grey Eagle , as part of their Canadian tour. They were in competition with 6 other high schools and came through with the win. Mr. Schwartz is pumped and the kids, well,… “Who’s Foreigner”? Diefenbaker’s Fine Arts program continues to be one of the best in our city. We should all be very proud. The music program will also receive a $500 donation. Many of these “rockers” came through music programs in their own high schools so it’s cool to see them giving back.
