Chief Chats Feedback

Teams and Clubs help create a sense of belonging at Dief.

Yesterday the JGD Admin met with some of our Diefenbaker students to discuss ways to improve our school. One of the most significant ideas the students shared was their sense of belonging through athletics and clubs.  We strongly urge students to get involved in as many Diefenbaker activities as possible.

We are very busy currently with football, volleyball and cross country. And we have three new sports teams starting up in the next few weeks:  swimming, wrestling and basketball.

We also have numerous clubs students can join: Art, Bridging the Gap, Cosplay/Fashion, Creative Writing, D&D, eSports, GSA, Green Chiefs, LITA, Mac Dief, Math Contests, Model UN, Speech, Table Tennis, and Yearbook.

Please encourage your students to join and become more involved in their high school experience at JGD!

IB Exam Fees

Students registered in a 30-level IB course are registered to write an IB exam in April or May 2025. Fees for IB exams have been added to your child’s PowerSchool account. Payment is due by November 15. If your child is registered in 3 or 4 IB exams and you require a different schedule for payment of fees, please contact Ms. Ulanicki at tjulanicki@cbe.ab.ca to arrange this. The final date to withdraw from an IB exam is October 31st. Any students registered in an exam level course following this date will be responsible for the $200 exam fee.

Artist Showcase

Hazel K is in Grade 12. She’s taken Art throughout Junior High and High School and has thoroughly enjoyed it.   She has also been involved in many sport teams.  Art gives her a path to creatively express herself.  Hazel loves to show her appreciation of the people around her by gifting them her art, which she perfects.  Her favourite mediums are acrylic and watercolour paint because of the versatility they bring to her canvas.  The subject of her art is mostly animals.  She took inspiration from Sandro Botticelli for an art project where she put her own spin on “The Birth of Venus” and incorporated characters from “The Little Mermaid”.  She has applied to the University of the Arts and she is confident that art will be a big part of her life no matter what direction life takes her.
