Student Off-Campus Behaviour Expectations

With the arrival of spring and nicer weather we see many more students venturing off campus at lunch and during spares. Diefenbaker Staff only provide supervision on campus. Those students choosing to go to local parks, McDonald's, Superstore, the skate park, or other locations are doing so with the understanding that these areas are not supervised by Diefenbaker Staff.  Students are expected to follow the student code of conduct at all times during the instructional day whether they are on campus or not.  Students will be held responsible for inappropriate behaviour regardless of location during the instructional day.

Ducklings - Biology 30

The Biology 30 IB class incubated 5 goose eggs for the Reproduction and Embryonic Development Unit in Biology 30.  The students were disappointed that none of the goose eggs hatched. However, they were excited when 3 ducklings arrived in our classroom and remained here until today, May 23rd, then they will be returned to the farm.  Other classes and students are enjoying visiting the ducklings as well.  Image 1: Biology 30 IB hanging with ducklings. Sr. Girls Rugby

On May 9 & 10, the Sr. Girls' Rugby Team travelled to Medicine Hat to compete in the Sunny 7's Invitational Rugby Tournament. Each game is short and intense, with 7 players on the field per team, playing 7 minute halves. Our two teams of 10 played a total of 6 games in the tournament.

On Friday, the girls enjoyed a team dinner out followed by team bonding activities at the hotel. They spent Saturday at Medicine Hat High School playing in the tournament and watching the Boys' and Girls' side compete during down time. The day was capped off with a visit to Swirls Ice Cream Parlour before returning home. Our opponents’ coaches acknowledged the high level of sportsmanship exhibited by our JGD athletes. The team made all their coaches very proud.

It has been 13 years since the JGD Girls' Rugby Team travelled for a tournament, and we look forward to continuing this tradition in years to come!

Help Save our JGD Yearbook Program!

We’re reaching out to our school community to let you know that the future of the yearbook program is at a crossroads. Due to low sales in recent years, we are considering whether to continue the program next year (2025-2026). However, your support this year can make a difference!

Purchasing a yearbook this year not only gives students a lasting keepsake of their memories but also helps ensure the yearbook program’s future. The more sales we have this year, the higher the chance we can continue the tradition of the yearbook for years to come.

Order your yearbook today by visiting Jostens Yearbook Purchase.

In addition, we need all parents to fill out the yearbook feedback survey to help guide our decision-making. Your insights and opinions are essential! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here: Yearbook Feedback Survey.

Thank you for helping us preserve this special part of our school’s history.
