Student Off-Campus Behaviour Expectations

With the arrival of spring and nicer weather we see many more students venturing off campus at lunch and during spares. Diefenbaker Staff only provide supervision on campus. Those students choosing to go to local parks, McDonald's, Superstore, the skate park, or other locations are doing so with the understanding that these areas are not supervised by Diefenbaker Staff.  Students are expected to follow the student code of conduct at all times during the instructional day whether they are on campus or not.  Students will be held responsible for inappropriate behaviour regardless of location during the instructional day.

ABC Challenge 2025 Summary

As you know Green Chiefs took part in the ABC Challenge and we had 185 students join the challenge.  Diefenbaker came in second place in Calgary, well done!

We won a bike care station for the school.

$100 gift certificate to Ridley Cycle – prize winner is Lynton Griffith.

Refurbished bike and helmet- prize winner is Daniel Hasson.

Scooter and helmet - prize winner is Rianna Razi.

We are also on the wait list to get a new bike rack for the school.

We are very proud of Diefenbaker and the students that signed up and made a choice to reduce their carbon footprint.  Little changes mean big results!

Help Save our JGD Yearbook Program!

We’re reaching out to our school community to let you know that the future of the yearbook program is at a crossroads. Due to low sales in recent years, we are considering whether to continue the program next year (2025-2026). However, your support this year can make a difference!

Purchasing a yearbook this year not only gives students a lasting keepsake of their memories but also helps ensure the yearbook program’s future. The more sales we have this year, the higher the chance we can continue the tradition of the yearbook for years to come.

Order your yearbook today by visiting Jostens Yearbook Purchase.

In addition, we need all parents to fill out the yearbook feedback survey to help guide our decision-making. Your insights and opinions are essential! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey here: Yearbook Feedback Survey.

Thank you for helping us preserve this special part of our school’s history.

Artist Spotlight

The Monsters and Heroes Project is an annual collaborative art initiative that brings together young and emerging artists from various educational levels.  In its second year, the project involves 10 Calgary Board of Education schools and the Alberta University of the Arts, connecting Grade 4 students, Junior High students, High School students, and University students, Professors and Professional Artists.  The project begins with Grade 4 students drawing a Monster or a Hero, which serves as inspiration for every stage afterwards. Junior High students enlarge and shade the monsters and heroes’ characters using the grid method. High School students then create art depicting the environments where these characters live, while University students and Professional Artists produce open-ended works based on the original Grade 4 drawings, culminating in a collective display. This year our Art 20s and 30s were invited to participate and their work will be celebrated one more night only, on May 9 6:30 – 9:30pm at the New Gallery.

Please come check it out and support our amazing artists!
