Artist Spotlight

Jasmine S. is a Grade 12 Leadership In The Arts (LITA) student, who has displayed great dedication to the musical arts. She is a classical percussionist and pianist. Her hard work is reflected in her skills as a member of JGD’s Symphonic and Jazz Bands.

Jasmine is extraordinarily talented, having won several awards including the Gold Award for the 2nd Premia International Young Artist Music Festival, Classical Piano Diploma Group. She has performed with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong and is currently dedicating herself to being a proud member of Calgary’s Youth Orchestra.

In Hong Kong, Jasmine was the Chief Executive of a music production, as well as a member of the Royal Academy of Dance. She also recently composed the music for our last school play.

Her favourite composer is Beethoven, and her favourite percussion instrument is the marimba. Jasmine is always eager to get involved in community service, and volunteered to perform for LITA’s first Lunchbox Showcase of the school year. Her contributions, both in musical expertise and team spirit, have influenced many others in JGD’s music community. Jasmine’s knowledge of music and composition abilities are like no other, and she will continue to be exemplary wherever her musical path takes her. We’re rooting for you Jasmine!
