Request from our Library Learning Commons
All personal reading books are now due. Please return your books to the Library Learning Commons.
All textbooks must be returned to the Library/Learning Commons if students do not need them for their Final/Provincial Exams. Please note that after Provincial Exams, students must return all their textbooks, otherwise a book fine fee will be automatically charged to their account. All textbooks are barcoded with a unique number and students are asked to return the exact same copy signed out to them. Returning somebody else’s copy will not clear their account. There is also a cart outside the Business Office to put textbooks.
Artist Spotlight
The Visual Arts students enjoyed their last day of classes outside making Chalk Art. A good way to practice their creative skills and keep the studio clean! What a beautiful entrance!
Have a great summer everyone!
Hudson B. is a Grade 12 student currently in Art 30. He enjoys listening to albums on vinyl, working out, and hanging out with friends. Hudson considers himself a casual artist. Besides the projects from Art class, he also has some experience doing digital pieces on his own time and for the school’s drama productions. Much of Hudson’s compositions include political messages for causes about which he is.
He tries to spread awareness and bring debate to important topics through his art. Hudson is inspired by his elder sister Eden, who's a Dief Alumni. Art is important to him because he admires how much human history can be viewed through the lens of visual imagery, and how it can depict the different cultures and movements of time. Human creativity and ingenuity are shown through Art, so it makes Hudson feel proud and optimistic that we can come together to appreciate it. Most of the time his process doesn't include much planning, just a couple rough sketches - so lots of ideas just develop in his head. Hudson enjoys working with acrylic paint, coloured pencils, cardboard and Adobe Illustrator the most.
He expresses his personal voice through his work by trying to depict what he thinks and cares about. Hudson challenges his viewers to rethink the topics he brings up, which are part of the current events of the political world.

Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC)
We are currently planning a series Community Information Sessions over the coming months and would welcome your support raising awareness for families or supportive staff members in your organization who may benefit from receiving information on this much needed resource in our community.
Founded in 1992, the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre is a research-backed long- term program specializing in treatment for youth & young adults between the ages of 12–21 who struggle with alcohol/drug use. Treatment at AARC provides support for all family members, as we understand that loved ones are also heavily impacted by the journey through youth addiction. On average, treatment at AARC takes between 8 – 10 months. At AARC, treatment for minors can be accessed by parents through Compassionate Intervention.
The AARC treatment model incorporates many unique components such as Entire Family Treatment, Peer Support, Recovery Homes, a Wrap-Around Specialized Clinical Team focused on Youth Recovery and a strong emphasis on Nutritional & Physical Wellness. Our Recovery Home process provides a unique semi-residential component to treatment. It is a therapeutic process, as families support each other as they become not only part of the solution but also part of a broader community of support throughout and post treatment. Research shows that the AARC model has a 73% success rate 12 months post treatment for clients living in sobriety. No family will be turned away due to financial barriers.
